Why This Site?
Our world today is in a sorry state.

  • Our environment is in crisis.

  • We have wars or quasi wars raging around the world.

  • Racial animus is greater than it’s been since the end of Jim Crow.

  • Democracies around the globe, including our own, are in danger.

  • And, we can’t agree on anything from the nature of our problems to their solutions, so we sit and wait for something to happen.

I’ve lived a long-time, and I’ve been interested in our international, national, state, and local issues for most of those years. I've always spent a good deal of time researching issues and thought it was about time I shared my research with others.

Most people don't have the time to do the research required to learn all the facts. My job is to research various issues of importance to provide you with an uncomplicated report of the good and bad that I find.

You should also know that I'm a progressive and believe that our public policies should reflect a look toward the future rather taking us back to times that were not the best for everyone.

About Us

Ernie Wittwer

I'm a native of Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with degrees in history, public management, and adult education.

Over twenty-five years with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, I held several high-level positions, including chief of staff to the Secretary. In that role, I had broad management responsibilities, as well as the oversight and coordination of the department’s policy agenda.

After my time at the department, I moved to the University of Wisconsin to become the Director of the Regional Transportation Center. There I taught graduate level courses on transportation management and policy, managed a research program, and conducted state, regional, and national professional development programs.

I moved with my wife to New Braunfels, Texas in 2017. In Texas, I have been active with the League of Women Voters and write a monthly column about issues of concern for New Braunfels’ Herald-Zeitung Newspaper.

Rita Wittwer

I'm also a native of Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS degree with an emphasis in graphic design. I was also a budgeteer for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

As a graphic designer, I created websites, logos, and all things graphic, as well as writing content. As a budgeteer, I not only dealt with financial issues, but wrote issue papers for consideration by the Wisconsin legislature.

I moved to New Braunfels with my husband and our furry people, Tucker (dog), Michou (dog), and Tigger (cat). Texas is a beautiful state, but the politics are bonkers. I am an unapologetic progressive and will write opinion pieces on various topics when I feel like it. I’m just coming along for the ride to post my opinions. Nothing more. Beware. I swear a lot. So if that's a problem for you, bypass my posts.
